Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Scottish Letting Agent Register
I completed my application some time ago but still do not have my Letting Agent Registration Number.
Given the large number of applications we are receiving and the time each takes to assess, it can take some time before your application can be determined. We are processing applications in the order they are received and yours will be processed in due course.
Please note that if you have not been asked about a payment option during your application process then you will not have submitted your application. Please see the FAQ entitled ‘I have completed all the sections of my application but it will not let me submit it’ for more information.
I have completed all the sections of my application but it will not let me submit it.
It is very likely that one or more of the individuals you identified in your application have not yet completed their details (personal and or qualification information) to the main application (the application for the business). You will be unable to submit an application to us until all nominated individuals have completed their sub-application.
You can review the status of each nominated individual via your main application. Do this by logging into your main application and then towards the top of the page click on ‘Resume the application from: check your details’. You will then see two tabs: ‘Your application details’ and ‘Nominated individuals’. Click on the Nominated individuals tab and you will see the status of all nominated individuals. Any nominated individuals whose status does not say ‘DETAILS PROVIDED’ still has to complete and submit their sub-application. Please ask them to do this.
If all nominated individuals have the status ‘DETAILS PROVIDED’ then you will be able to click on the Save and continue button to proceed to the final sections of the application.
You will know you have almost completed the online application form when the registration system asks about a method of payment.
I’m a nominated individual and my application is still showing as In Progress even though I completed it.
It is very likely that you have completed all the details but have not submitted it to the main application. You will need to submit this to the main application. How can I find out if a Letting Agent is registered?
You can search the public register to see if a letting agent is registered. Please note that because of the large volume of applications we are receiving, a letting agent may have made an application to us but it has not yet been considered for approval. You can email us at LettingAgentRegulation@gov.scot or call 0300 244 6439 to check if an agent has applied to join the register or not.
All those who conduct letting agency work within Scotland must be registered. If you believe an agent is not registered and has not applied you can tell us via email to LettingAgentRegulation@gov.scot.
